Well, I did it. I pushed the button. I'm a published novelist.
I am far from green when it comes to being a professional writer. As a former journalist, I've published hundreds of works to be read by public eyes, but for some reason, this work of fiction feels different. I am a complete newbie to the field of self-published authorship. And pressing that button was absolutely terrifying.
Still. I did it.
It's a daunting process, putting yourself out there. It is scary allowing the world to see the story that I breathed life into. I know full well that I'm likely going to have people who say "meh," or who decide to criticize my work despite never having read it. None of that matters to me because I set out to write and publish a book, and I've done it. I've knocked that item off the bucket list. It was hours and hours of work with long nights and early mornings, but the payoff is pretty amazing.
I do want to thank all of those who have helped me through the process of publishing Dusk on the Western Range. No person is an island, and that's doubly true for aspiring authors. Contrary to popular belief, writing a book is not a single-person process. This work of fiction was not solely the work of yours truly. I might have been the engine running the bookmaking machine, but crafting the best version of this story really was a team effort.
So thank you to my editor, Tony Held. Other authors, check him out at the button below. Tony is an awesome guy and a joy to work with.
Thank you to my design team over at Deranged Doctor Design. They have some killer designs for books of every genre. Check out their portfolio at the button below.
I wanted to give a shoutout to my old college friend Logan Judy, who introduced me to the world of self-publishing. Thanks for the advice and the patience, dude! Go read his books too, guys. He's an incredibly talented author himself.
And thank you to all of my friends and family who have helped me along the way with your unending love and support. It's been a wild ride. Make sure to follow my newsletter to stay posted on upcoming book signing events, extra media, and more.
I guess I'll go write another book now. A writer's work is never done.
